Development of the Theoretical Field of Tourism Finance in Turkey: A Bibliometric Investigation

Summary/Abstract: The tourism industry makes a significant contribution to the national economy. For this reason,studies on the determination of the financial status of tourism enterprises are important. In this study, it is aimed to examine the development course of tourism finance as a scientific study area by adhering to the Turkish literature. Thus, it has been tried to present an evaluation opportunity about the development in tourism literature in this field. For this purpose, in the application part of the study, 144 articles reached in the digital environment were examined based on the bibliometric analysis approach and content analysis. According to the findings of the study, it is understood that the development of tourism finance literature has accelerated in recent years, but there is a need for a diversification in the types of publications, topics covered, techniques used and data obtained. Considering the channels in which the articles were published, it can be said that tourism magazines also contributed greatly to this development. It is seen that there is a need for more exploratory studies in response to the intensity of descriptive research designs.According to the findings of the study, it is thought that the increase in the number of academicians producing publications in this field will increase the literary richness of this field.It is hoped that the present study will contribute to the literature and researchers.
