Summary/Abstract: The finding that the collective memories specific to the former communist / socialist Eastern bloc bear the imprint of a nostalgic reference to an idealistic past compared with the "transitional" present or the "wild capitalism" is already a commonplace in the cultural studies dedicated to the post-totalitarian contexts. It is also the case of certain memory configurations which characterize the Romanian post-communism, whose amnesiac-nostalgic dimension can be spotted - beyond the echoes of the phenomenon reflected in the media or the radiographs generated by the sociological surveys - in literature and, especially, in the prose having been published in Romania since 2000.Considering this literature an interface of the cultural memory and as a "vehicle" of the collective one, this paper analyses the specificities of this nostalgic revisiting of the "Golden Age" together with its implications in the cultural and identity field, starting with the analysis of Dan Lungu’s two famous novels: Hens’ Heaven (Raiul găinilor) and I Am an Old Commie! (Sunt o babă comunistă).
