Summary/Abstract: Within the European tradition, Annunciation is to be understood as the ultimate act of faith, and furthermore, the ultimate promise of redemption. Which, in return is being put into act by the resurrected body of Christ. From one state to the other, from the promise-to-be to the promise to become the body subjected to significant metaphysical changes which result into sublimation of the flesh. Our paper aims at showing that the symbolic power of the Verb (of the Fiat! in the Genesis) contributes to the birth of a new kind of body pragmatics, which translates into a new kind of visuals, connected to the idea of stigma as it is developed in the works of Georges Didi-Huberman: a body mark that creates new levels of signification. Soma and sema once again meet in the protective shadow of the deixis.Since the Verb both builds and inoculates, the birth and rebirth of Christ are also intimately connected. From the Annunciation by Robert Campin (Merode Triptych, 1425-1428) and by Jan Provost (ca 1500 /first decade of the XVIth century) to the Resurrection by Fra Angelico, Resurrection of Christ and Woment at the Tomb (1440-1442),the European culture has always been interested in the secret of His sublimation. The body thus becomes an appropriate place for the miraculous re/birth.
