Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the importance of old Russian literature in the works by Sasha Sokolov, with a specific reference to his first novel A School For Fools (1976). A qualitative and quantitative linguistic analysis of a portion of the text demonstrates the strong connection between this book and the literary heritage of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. The results of this research contribute to a better understanding of the similarities shared by Sokolov’s style and the “weaving words” of ancient Bulgarian origin.
