Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to present in detail the gestalt theoretical and practical approach to anxiety which is the existential state of us humans. The Theory of Self based on its specification of Isadore From and further developed by others including the author, and latest neurological insights, especially Polyvagal Theory, are used as the main concepts which can serve as an effective therapeutic guideline to transform the three main pain causing chains of mankind: anxiety guilt and shame. Those feelings are considered at the ground of most dysfunctional psycho- as well somatic symptoms and sufferings, as well as the most precious resources of an authentic creative lifestyle. Since the focus of this article is anxiety, this emotional state is elaborated in depth with examples and practical suggestions, how beforementioned theoretical concepts can serve as therapeutic tool of first order, to transform this chronical form of emotions into resources of creative adjustment and wellbeing. Article shows, why and how the constructive organism-environment field paradigm of Gestalt Therapy can contribute to the understanding and transformation of feeling of anxiety, more than the individualistic paradigms used in clinical praxis.
