Monitoring News and Fear of Crime

Summary/Abstract: Fear of crime and safety feelings are topics that criminological and geographical research has been engaged more and more frequently over the past few years. The aim of the article is to describe how to monitor intelligence and fear of crime. The questionnaire in paper or online form completed 2065 respondents. The results show that respondents read most of the articles relating to this area in the Czech Republic, whether in paper form or on the Internet. At the same time, they demonstrated understanding how the media choose messages, but they still believed that the media offers plenty of objective information. Then they did not feel fear or fears of crime and did not change their behavior. These results lead to reflection on protective factors in the field of crime fear.
