Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses some aspects of the Aromanian community from the South of Serbia, situated in Vranje Valley – the villages Preobraženu and Leskovac: the history of their immigration, their professions and the influence of the adjacent nations which they were faced with. They were very conservative, striving to keep their ethnical identity, but they were also the agents of the modernization regarding the professions in which they excelled. The historical circumstances enforced the Slavic assimilation especially concerning their language, but the community stayed somewhat homogeneous as far as their customs are concerned.
