Summary/Abstract: One of the effects of the health crises caused by the emergence of the Covid-19 virus is to have transformed and to continue to transform the way people relate and the way they solve their current problems. The online environment has gained ground and countries are encouraging the primary use of electronic means in order to keep their physical distance and reduce the risk of contaminate themselves. The field of Romanian consular activity, by its specificity, is the least suitable for on-line activity; however, attempts are being made to introduce remote working mechanisms in this sector as well. They are supported by recent national and European regulations. Nevertheless, the viability of these rules, in the absence of European coherence, leaves much to desire and can only be effective if concrete measures will be taken at state and European level.
