Summary/Abstract: The paper offers extensive cause-and-effect analysis between the narrative opusof Aleksandar Tišma and his (dual) origin which, on a subconscious level, kept pushinghim further into shame and isolation, hindering his work and creativity. This intricateconditioned bond and all the various forms it manifested itself through only unveiledbefore the writer later in his life, his creativity maturing with his age, freeing him from theburden he’d been living with for years. The archetypal fear of persecution andextermination acquired through family tales and stories, was confirmed and deepened bythe horrors of the World War II which had a paralyzing effect on Tišma, but later (after hisprophetic trip to Auschwitz) came to prominence in his creative potential and a compellingneed a writer feels in terms of his origin and the Holocaust, the history of horror whichhad happened right in front of everyone’s eyes.
