Summary/Abstract: The fifth generation (5G) of wireless technology represents a complete transformation of telecommunication networks. 5G will transform the digital landscape and serve as a catalyst for innovation, new markets, and economic growth. As tens of billions of devices are connected to the Internet through 5G, these connections will empower a vast array of enhanced critical infrastructure services. It is intended to meet increasing data and communication requirements, including capacity for connected devices that will make up the Internet of Things (Io T), ultra-low latency required for critical near real time communications, and faster speeds to support emerging technologies. 5G is expected to bring security improvements and a better user experience, but supply chain, deployment, and vulnerabilities may affect the security and resilience of 5G networks.
