Summary/Abstract: Contemporary democratic societies adopted as the main point of their establishing, functioning and development strategy for the civil-military relations the concept of democratic civil control over the armed forces. This primordial importance of the “civil” factor is situated in the national legislation of every state, taking into consideration their particularities (history, traditions, public opinion etc). In this study, we present the role and place of the military in two European states with consolidated democracies – France and Germany.
