Summary/Abstract: Pages 12-13 of this issue host an interview taken by the Polish Irena Grudzinska Gross to Susan Sontag in August 2002 and translated for Orizont by Cristina Cheveresan. The first part of the conversation goes over the tragic events that distrozed the World Trade Center. The writer recollects her first reactions and the frustration of witnessing from afar only the television parades of voices and not having access to direct perception. She also explains the article that stirred so much comment in the aftermath of the national and international tragedy. Sontag states her shock at the reactions produced by her opinions, humorously enumerating the most uncommon suggestions as to her "punishment". Femininity and radicalism are also discussed, along with artistic modes of expression such as photography, a new type of art that seems to have best captured the tension and intensity of the tragic events. Sontag's latest novel comes up in the last part of the interview, as a bonus for the peaceful consumer of good quality literature.
