Summary/Abstract: The 21st century is that of technological developments (technological revolutions) in all fields. The civil and military telecommunications industry have developed together, and there has been exchange of information both ways. The differences between the two were dictated by markets, but also doctrine, the military having used the communications networks for command and control (C2) purpose, while civilian communications networks having been used mainly for social interaction. 5G technology enabled the integration of physical objects into military and/or civilian networks, which has generated the substantial development of the phenomenon already known as the Internet of Things. The integration of AI (artificial intelligence) in the new communication networks represents the new technological apex. The Defense industry, in turn, has adapted to new technological requirements, through the development of operational military systems, incorporating the latest developments in the field of telecommunications and ensuring supremacy in the areas of modern armed forces
