About model of inmates concerns: application of a lot of romanian prisoners

Summary/Abstract: Toch (1977) developed the PPI (Prison Preference Inventory) to measure the inmate’s preferences regarding eight psychosocial aspects of prison environment; Wright (1985) developed a similar tool to describe the properties of the prison environment. This study aims to explore the inmate’s preferences regarding the prison environment based upon the questionnaire proposed by Wight (1985). For this purpose we developed and tested a structural model based on the conceptualization of Toch. The obtained data does not provide support for all eight concerns. Thus, the resulted model do not support the following concerns: social stimulation, privacy, structure. We provided several possible explanations for our results, however further studies are required in order for us to extend our conclusions.
