Summary/Abstract: Defter number 237 of the Başbakanlık arşivi (Archives of the offi ce of the Prime Minister) in İstanbul dated approximately to the year 1440 is a valuable source for about 70 villages situated in the Region of Kastoria (Northern Greece). On the basis of recently published studies of Charalampos P. Symeōnidēs, Geōrgios Tsotsos and Angelikē Delikarē the identifi cation, localization and etymology of 47 selected toponyms are discussed.
