Summary/Abstract: The text is focused on the issue of word structure and related word-formation, spelling and morphological topics in the teaching of the Czech language at the 1st stage of primary education and in teacher training. The authors proceed from analysing the selected textbooks for the 3rd, 4th and 5th years of primary school to presenting basic topics and concepts related to word formation and word structure and, finally, comparing the conceptions of the tentative phenomena in the selected methodological and linguistic sources. They introduce some nodal points of difficulty in preparation of teacher trainees and draw attention to the need of consistent differentiation of word-forming and morphemic conceptions and approaches.
