Lexical observations on the Akathist to the Theotokos

Summary/Abstract: Beyond its religious and poetic importance, the Akathist Hymn remains little analyzed both in the theological and linguistics fields. We intend to study the lexical level of the Akathist of the Annunciation, with application on two variants: the one from the 17th century of Metropolitan Dosoftei and a current one, from 2012, extracted from a Book of prayers issued in Athos. Following the analysis of oikoi and kontakia, there will be a paralel between the lexical options of the two variants, manifested especially at the etymological level, without profoundly affecting the semantics of the text.
