Summary/Abstract: There is no one definition of the phenomenon of euthanasia in the liter-ature of subject. Particular definitions emphasize various elements related to the phenomenon of euthanasia, for example the motive for such action or the way the euthanasia procedure proceeds. There is also no one typology of euthanasia. The most popular divisions of euthanasia are: active and passive or: voluntary and involuntary. As is well known, these are not the only divisions of the phenomenon of eutha-nasia. In the context of justifying the phenomenon of euthanasia, an argu-ment about freedom appears very often. Unfortunately, people who use this argument construct their beliefs about the wrong conception of free-dom. As they understand it, freedom is arbitrariness, which can at best claim to be a caricature of freedom. Freedom always strives for good and development, it can never lead to evil. And what if not evil is taking a per-son's life?
