Summary/Abstract: Until a few decades ago, the moment of “entering the dance” of the young women from the village of Gura Râului (department of Sibiu, region of Transylvania,Romania) was very important. For the young women of marriageable age, dancingin the village pavilion was a good opportunity to find their future husband, or todance with the young man they loved. When did the dance in the pavilion of Gura Râului take place? What was the place from where the young men issued the invitations to dance? Where were the young women waiting for invitations to dance? What kinds of dances did they dance? At what age did young women enter thedance? How were they dressed? How would a young woman react if she was askedto dance by a young man she didn't like? How was it “penalized” a young woman's refusal to dance with a young man? The present article aims to provide answers to all these questions.
