Summary/Abstract: In the era of Berdimuhammedov there were efforts for democratization and some reforms have maintained in the Turkmen domestic politics. Turkmenistan’s foreign policy under the leadership of Berdimuhammedov should be considered in two areas; energy and security. While a significant foreign policy balance had to be maintained, the above mentioned natural resources were also important for wealth of the international system. This lead to the complicated relations for involved countries. Although for Berdimuhammedov the foreign relations were more important than his predecessor, he did not make any concessions for the neutrality status which was gained by the United Nations on December 12nd 1995. This article focuses on the democratization, reforms and energy as a foreign policy tool in the domestic politics of Turkmenistan.
