Summary/Abstract: The article contains a translation, along with critical apparatus, of segments of Simcha Icchak Łucki’s Sefer Me’irat Enajim dealing with the ritual impurity ensuing from various types of contact with a dead body and the grave – tum’at met. The translation is accompanied by an outline history of this institution relating to Karaites and Rabbanites. While in relation to older Karaite codices, Bashiachi’s Adderet in particular, the text borrows some conclusions from those earlier writings, it remains an important source material confirming the Karaite’s strict approach to the tum’at met institution still in Łucki’s lifetime. Soon after his death, between the mid-18th and the mid-19th century, the Karaites’ position became more moderate, largely due to external pressures.
