Summary/Abstract: The mandate of a Deputy is a special form of bond between a Member of the Sejm and his or her constituents. It is both a legal bond (regulated at the level of the Polish Constitution and acts) and a political bond (resulting from the election of a Deputy in general elections and all the ensuing consequences, such as his or her relationship with the electoral district and political party). A necessary complement to the legal and political elements of the mandate are the rules of parliamentary ethics, which lay down specific requirements for Deputies' behaviour.
