Digital Literacy and Technological Literacy: A Comparative Examination

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to compare the changes in the definitions of digital and technological literacy in the historical process, to examine the characteristics defined for digital and technologically literate individuals in terms of similarities and differences, and to reveal the similarities and differences of these literacies in the context of their scope. The qualitative research method was adopted and document analysis was conducted. In addition to the concepts of ''technological literacy'' and ''digital literacy''; the concepts ''computer literacy'' and ''information and communication technologies literacy'' are presented as keywords. As a result, 35 studies that need to be examined were determined. First, there is confusion in terms of digital and technological literacy by being used interchangeably. Second, the characteristics described for these literate individuals have differences as well as similarities. Finally, digital and technological literacy are intertwined and it is not possible to separate them with certain lines.
