Summary/Abstract: The presented paper analyses the linguistic view of the road in Polish and Ukrainian from a comparative perspective. It describes the meanings presented in dictionaries, synonyms, metaphors and metonyms, proverbs reflecting the concept of the road. The reconstruction of the linguistic view of the road includes the analysis of the lexical connectivity of the word road, the connotation layer and the phenomenon of “semantics expansion” based on an analysis of text corpora. The paper is part of the stream of ethnolinguistically oriented linguistic research, while using the research apparatus of structuralism and cognitivism.
