The Aggressive Victim: The Dual Notion of the Political Representation of Suffering

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the process in which historical and sociological research on the victims of genocide in the 20th century was transformed and, increasingly, appropriated by the political field. For what purpose was this appropriation mobilized and how did this process somehow empty scholarly research? Isolating the dual notion of the political representation of suffering, the article seeks to find an approach with which the political issue of the subject must be emphasized, just to get out of the trap constructed by politics.
