Summary/Abstract: Belarusian Students Union (BSU), formed in 1921, is considered to be the mostimportant and largest Belarusian organization within Stefan Batory University. Duringthe years of its existence BSU was transformed from the ordinary union to the realcentre of integration of Belarusian youth, became the infl uential youth organizationthat was an integral part of the national liberation movement.The main objectives of the BSU were to unite student youth and support theBelarusian identity among Western Belarusian students. The public activity of the BSUwent beyond the university, the students union cooperated with other Belarusianpublic organizations, students took an active part in the work of Belarusian culturaland scientifi c institutions. At the same time, BSU activists were engaged in researchactivities in various fi elds of Belarusian studies, had constant contacts and cooperatedwith Polish academic circles. Extensive cultural and educational work of the union wasaimed at the development of the entire Belarusian community in Western Belarus.
