Summary/Abstract: The article discusses and compares fourteen 18th century library inventories of the Pauline Fathers from Wieluń, currently stored in the Jasna Góra Archives in Częstochowa. The subject arrangement of bibliographic entries, their level of detail, the number of recorded titles and volumes of monastic books have been taken into account. The paper also shows the role of these inventories as a primary source for the reconstruction of old book collections. The most significant achievements of Polish scholars in research on the inventories of monastic libraries include an attempt at reconstructing selected Jesuit and Dominican inventories, a discussion of the role of the Cistercian library inventories, a presentation of the inventories of libraries in the Belarusian archival and library collections in Minsk, and, above all, a bibliography of all inventories and catalogues of Polish book collections and those established in Poland until 1939.
