Formation of clerics for charity service in the light of the project of the new Ratio institutionis sacerdotalis pro Polonia

Summary/Abstract: Charitable service is an essential activity of the Church and has been implemented since the apostolic times. Pope Francis strongly emphasizes the need to awaken sensitivity to human poverty and to develop various forms of reaching people in need in his pastoral activity. It is impor­tant that future pastors know the nature and mission of the Church well and are also well prepared for the tasks ahead. The issues mentioned above concerning persons included in the seminary formation are taken into account by the draft of the new Ratio institutionis sacerdotalis pro Polonia, which is currently awaiting approval by the Holy See. The prepared document contains important guidelines for the formation of seminarians to the attitude of service and for their future charitable activities in the pastoral service they undertake, following the example of Jesus, the Servant and the Good Shepherd.
