Summary/Abstract: The article, which appeared in Białostockie Studia Literaturoznawcze (No. 10, 2017, pp. 24-37), is a critical review of report on Jewish subjects as tackled in the unpublished Notatki Pamiętnikarskie essay by Aurelia Wyleżyńska. It reveals not only a high level of incompetence but also elementary lack of writing tools, the inability to interpret a text in a professional manner, the ignorance of the social, cultural and historical context, or the lack of clear criteria to follow. The authors demonstrate the groundlessness of the writer’s conclusions, the application of unscientific methods of analyzing texts and a habit of inventing events that never occurred in real life. They also draw attention to a much broader and disturbing liberty in approaching historical sources interpreted by Wyleżyńska, who imparts certain meanings to them, all of it for the purpose of proving a hypothesis made by her in advance. This causes serious scientific and ethical controversies and provokes questions about the sense of such activity
