Summary/Abstract: Unia Europejska wraz z Radą Europy i Organizacją Bezpieczeństwa i Współpracy w Europie, tworzy regionalny, europejski system ochrony praw człowieka. Po wielu latach postępującej integracji europejskiej w roku 2000 została proklamowana Karta Praw Podstawowych. Ten nowoczesny dokument skupiający przepisy prawa międzynarodowego jest obecnie podstawowym dokumentem regulującym ochronę praw człowieka w ramach UE. Choć pierwotnie akt był tylko deklaracją o charakterze politycznym, to jego rola zmieniła się w 2009 r., kiedy to stał się prawem wiążącym o statusie prawa pierwotnego UE. Zakres stosowania Karty został ograniczony do organów i instytucji Unii Europejskiej, a w stosunku do poszczególnych państw członkowskich obowiązuje jedynie w zakresie, w jakim wykonują one prawo unijne. Mimo obaw politycznych złożonych przez niektóre kraje, na czele z Wielką Brytanią, Czechami i Polską KPP, prawa podstawowe i ich ochrona stanowią ważny element unijnego systemu prawnego i są impulsem w procesie kontynuacji europejskiej integracji. [The European Union, together with the Council of Europe and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, creates a regional, European system of human rights protection. After many years of progressing European integration, the Charter of Fundamental Rights was proclaimed in 2000. This modern document gathering the provisions of international law is now the basic document regulating the protection of human rights within the EU. Although originally the act was only a declaration of a political nature, its role increased in 2009, when it became a binding law with the status of primary EU law. The scope of application of the Charter has been limited to the bodies and institutions of the European Union, and in relation to individual Member States only to the extent that they implement EU law. Despite the political concerns expressed by some countries, including Great Britain, the Czech Republic and the Polish, CFR, fundamental rights and their protection constitute an important element of the EU legal system and are an impulse for European integration.]
