Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the temporary exhibition “Antique Style in Russian Imperial Porcelain of the 2nd Half of the 18th Century” in the State Hermitage Museum. The author’s aim is to explore the ways of realization of didactic concept of the exhibition. The author considers as one of the main ways of such realization the decision to exhibit the 18th- and 21st-century Imperial Porcelain Factory’s production along both with that of the European porcelain factories and with the genuine pieces of ancient art — sculpture, ceramics and glyptic. This method of visual comparison of the specimens was employed in the Hermitage’s exhibition practice for the first time. Another method under examination is the including of film in the exhibition space, as like as the employing of educational stands illustrating the evolution of the shapes of vases, also the mechanisms of the transformation the antique prototypes underwent in the decor of Russian porcelain. Furthermore, the author analyses the communicative function of the art of porcelain the also the experience of creating a multicultural area by organization of literary-musical evenings, dedicated to the subject of the exhibition.
