Summary/Abstract: Interest in the art of poster creation appeared almost simultaneously with the appearance of the poster itself in the late 1890s. During this period of time, a considerable historiographical database was created. Value of this database nowadays defined not only by the huge amount knowledge collected by contemporaries of the firs posters, but also by the scientific component of this knowledge. During the 20th century, interest in the problems of art of poster creation didn’t decreased up to nowadays, and now we have the great opportunity to work with excellent historical material. Presentation and scientific analysis of this material we define as the main goal of our article. The main point of our interest in the history of posters’ evolution lies in the time period of time in the turn of the 19th–20th centuries. However historical material presented in this review is studied due to this chronological period. In this article also represented historiographical analysis of art of poster creation. Prepared historiographical review can identify a number of trends in the understanding of art of poster creation that emerged in the course of scientific criticism of the source.
