Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the problem of interrelation of the picture with the space of a city domestic interior in the Dutch art of 17th century. The author deals with the two basic aspects of this problem: development of the painting “bedriegertje” and use of the camera-obscura by Dutch painters (on an example of works by Carel Fabritius, Emanuel de Witte, Pieter Janssens Elinga, Jan Vermeer and Samuel van Hoogstraten). Analysis covers works which were integral elements of interior decor. The artists’ methods of composition are reviewed. The author comes to the conclusion that these works of art employ illusionist methods and that they have the connection with the achievements of the natural science of 17th century.
