Summary/Abstract: Cioran’s philosophy has given birth to difficulties in classification. If I dare to use some categorization to bring him closer to a type of philosophical acceptability, I believe that Cioran’s unique work lies at the convergence of two kinds of philosophies. Whereas the auroral philosophy extends to Greek cynicism and skepticism, the other one rests on the tragic dimension of existence understood through a detailed “physiology” of suffering and man’s life in a meaningless universe. On the whole, Cioran’s philosophy belongs to pseudoeclectic philosophy with elements of stoicism, native and “heretical” skepticism, moderate cynicism, and unorthodox epicurism. The aim of such a philosophy is to counterbalance the sterility of acedia and the tragic dimension of the existence.
