A few remarks about the electronic form confirming identity in Poland

Summary/Abstract: Modern technologies have more and more impact on e-administration. Combination of an identity card with a secure electronic layer is undoubtedly the biggest change in identity documents from the beginning of their existence. The subject of the article is legitimacy of possessing and effectiveness of the use documents that confirming the identity and also the evolution of legal identity cards regulations. The article presents benefits and risks resulting from the introduction of an ID card with an electronic layer. Implementation of electronic identity card has a lot of advantages for both, public administration as creating a uniform system of certifying citizens and reducing time and costs of administrative procedures, as well as having a positive impact on the citizen’s convenience thanks to reduction the time of dealing official matters and the possibility of using e-services anywhere at any time. This article also mentions the issue of the risk of data security and data confidentiality resulting from the introduction of evidence with an electronic layer.
