Summary/Abstract: The article explores the lists of conduct (Conduitelisten) of 25 officers and non‑commissioned officers of the two Romanian border guard regiments from Transylvania to assess the potential of these documents as sources in the process of biographical and historical reconstruction. To this end, the diverse information recorded in the Conduitelisten was divided into eight categories: social background and education, military career, family, financial situation, health, temperament and behavior, knowledge, and dexterities, respectively. Given the nature of the hosted information, the Conduitelisten could open new research directions towards a social history of the military border, an aspect neglected so far by the Romanian historiography.
