Summary/Abstract: The teaching of literature in the final grade of high school includes teaching contents related to contemporary world and Bosnian literature, with the adjective “contemporary” being taken in a broader sense and refering to the period from the Second World War to the present day. The predicted learning outcomes imply that students, among other things, gain insight into the main currents of contemporary literature, understand the impact of avant-garde movements in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in other South Slavic literatures, adopt terminology related to the interpretation of a literary text, understand the features of postmodernist literature, interpret universal themes and values in literary texts of different periods, poetics and cultures. In this context, the aim of this paper is to present the interpretation of the work Talha or Šedrvanski vrt (selected stories) by Irfan Horozović, the founder of Bosnian (and South Slavic) postmodernist literature within a multilayered understanding of text, intertextuality and metatectuality, irrational and phantasmagoric possibilities of language, space and time, the universal possibilities of human self-recognition as a form of creative, life imperative.
