Summary/Abstract: This article seeks to analyse the evolution of personal data protection regulations in historical, legal and cultural contexts. We will dwell, on the main issue concerning the impact of the introduction of the forthcoming e-Privacy Regulation. We will analyse the existing provisions on the protection of personal data in European law, the legislation and case law of the CJEU, and discuss the legal implications of the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica scandal in relation with the proposed E-Privacy Regulation.
