Summary/Abstract: The concept of self-determination, in the most basic meaning, is defined as a process that enables people to freely determine their own destiny without any form of external pressure or coercion. Within the context of study, after the conceptual framework of self-determination was discussed, the self-determination approach of the EU was examined in detail. The study aims to address the EU’s attitude towards the concept of self-determination, which has two types, internal and external, from the perspective of international law. In the study, it was concluded that only the democratic rights of the European peoples to freely decide their own political, social, economic and cultural development can be based on EU law.
