Legal consequences of insurer’s bankruptcy and insured’s rights regarding the payments of indemnity/damages

Summary/Abstract: Withdrawal of the operating licence of Romania’s most important insurance company, considering the sold insurance policies, and opening of bankruptcy proceeding, generated many reactions on the insurance market. This event led to various legal consequences on insured persons and on recipient’s damages which should have been paid by the bankrupt insurer. Some of these issues have been covered by this article.
