Summary/Abstract: With this research, which is predicted to be a new approach to the breathing and articulation problems of folk songs within the scope of the vocal practices that 24 students from İnönü University State Conservatory 2 and 3 years attended on a voluntary basis, 27 rhymes previously determined were studied as exercises in line with belcanto principles within a 10-week program. Evaluation of the level of influence of these musicians from these practices in terms of breathing and articulation problems has been provided. Exercises created starting from vowel and consonant sounds, which are considered as the smallest elements of verbal and musical expression in terms of singing voice usage, were studied gradually in the form of syllables, words and rhymes. The aim here is to investigate what kind of interaction the exercises, which are used programmatically and derived from deceptive rhymes, create to the singer the skills that correspond to the basic principles of belcanto such as agility, tonal control, vibrato, voice and breath coordination, which are thought to be caused by the singer's breathing and articulation problems. It was thought that working with rhymes with a systematic approach as suggested by this research activates all the vocal corridors and muscles in the timbre tube, enabling the muscles in the abdominal region to move forward and thus the rib cage to expand further and support the sub-laryngeal air pressure with dynamic breathing from the diaphragm area. It was concluded that the rhymes applied with this awareness are functional in learning techniques such as messa di voce, which facilitates the use of nuance by the performer in long musical piece which lacks any set of rhythmic patterns (uzun hava) is thought to be effective in announcing the local verbal technique and singing voice qualities. In the study, it was pointed out that the need to approach music with awareness in terms of improving the performance level of each singer and the ideal of being a good educator, and a perceptual approach to breathing and vocalization are decisive in achieving a qualified and artistic performance level.
