Summary/Abstract: Horror emerges as a central intuition in the work of Georges Bataille. It presides over eroticism, the sacred, and also poetry. This article attempts to show how the coherence of Bataillian writings is tied around this notion, in their literary, philosophical and political dimensions. Developing a true philosophy of horror, Bataille elevates this negative affection to the rank of a metaphysical experience.
