Summary/Abstract: Friendship is a wise passion which is crucial for Jaccottet. Among other examples one can mention his enduring loyalty to his master Gustave Roud, to such poets as Pierre-Albert Jourdan and Henri Thomas, or to painters. In the light of his last published book, Bonjour, Monsieur Courbet, we focus here on his friendship with painters. We put it into perspective with his lifelong journey and his dream of a desirable but fragile harmony, which art in its most diverse expressions can point to.
