Summary/Abstract: The Sarajevo Museum’s archaeology collection was formed in 1951 when a number of artefacts were transferred to it from the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since then the collection has been enriched by finds from research and development-led archaeological excavations conducted over the years in Sarajevo and its environs. The collection consists of several thousand inventory items, from which the region’s past from the Neolithic to the Ottoman period can be approximately reconstructed. The basic holdings testifying to the long human presence in this part of the world have been supplemented to create the Museum’s latest permanent collection.
