Summary/Abstract: Faced with universal globalization process, which threatens to destroy everything that isn’t deeply rooted, and which is especially disastrous for small countries and cultures, the museum workers are forced to work on affirmation of cultural heritage which is the basic foundation for strengthening the society’s cultural identity. The protection of those values should be in care of whole society but at the same time under supervision of experts. That is why today’s museum is being asked to be an active participant of the present and security for happier future, and to spend less energy on mere gathering and keeping of items. 'Tine museum needs to be socially active and directed to new generations because it is here for them. The past is in the role of counselor whose wisdoms are used in new ways of communication. These new ways of communication go beyond normal museum visits. It’s future, museology sees in so called ‘eco museum’, a museum which rises from the need of inclusive community; and which ‘covers’ the specific areas, and is therefore closer to the community people. The museum cannot ignore the all rising presence of technology above all in the field of information (after all the Faculty of Museology is classified into Informational Science on the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb). This innovation has raised many questions as well as dilemmas whether the museum professions will be endangered by appearance of easier and faster solutions which do not require physical presence at the exhibition. Still, the opinion is that the museum has its own specific qualities and values, as well as emotional strength which will provide existence and survival in a general informational process which we cannot avoid.
