Summary/Abstract: In a multilingual country like Lebanon, precisely in its capital, several critical events took place in 2020, such as the protest movements occupying the public squares of Beirut, the economic, social and health crises, as well as the explosion of the port on August, 4 and its material, human and psychological damage. What identity is revealed through the linguistic events present in Beirut at the end of 2020? Like any other city, Beirut undergoes a continuous development which changes its human and geographic structure, also influencing its language, culture, identity and the relationship between them. In the present study, we intend to make a semiolinguistic analysis of the means of expression taken in photos around the ruined port and in downtown Beirut during the month of December 2020, with a view to memorization and heritage. The historical symbolism of Beirut and all it represents in the collective memory of the Lebanese has prompted us to study the relationship between the languages used in different forms of communication and the identity they suggest.
