Summary/Abstract: The occurrence of situations of special threat, which cannot be removed by ordinary constitutional measures, justifies the introduction of one of the three extraordinary states provided for by the Constitution of the Republic of Poland: martial law, state of emergency or state of natural disaster. Chapter XI of the Constitution sets out the prerequisites and procedures for the enactment of those states, as well as the consequences of their establishment.
