The Occupation of Family Assistant - Between a Politicised Social Project and a Socialist Political Project?

Summary/Abstract: The article concerns the processes in shaping the occupation of family assistant in Poland. The first part discusses certain determinants of the said processes, in particular how the politicising and politicisation of social assistance has affected the transformations of the first family assistant projects that emerged at a grassroots level, in non-governmental organisations, and in public social help. Selected institutional and organisational determinants behind the creation of the occupation of family assistant, plus such determinants related to the community, are presented in the second part of the article, referring to reports representative of the achievements of Polish sociology of occupations. The conclusions show trends in the transformations of the emerging occupation of family assistant.
