Summary/Abstract: The conception of social and cultural identity is a deep process connected to the social space as a scene of multiple interactions that involves objective structures and mental structure as well. In a society that is facing complex conversion, as Rome has known in the last republican century, these social interactions generate renewals of the traditional frameworks for defining social actors and their space for action. This paper explores how Roman elites created their new identities, using residences to re-compose their image and value in the social space.
