Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to discuss the remake tool, popular in postmodern culture, which is increasingly used by the authors of the new Russian dramaturgy. The author attempts to characterize and classify this phenomenon, citing the work of Russian and foreign academics. The author supports her conclusions with examples of reinterpretation of classical works (Anton Chekhov, Nikolai Gogol, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Ivan Goncharov, Leo Tolstoy and others) by contemporary playwrights.
